Williams Island on Idlewild Lake

Williams Island is located on beautiful Idlewild Lake in the heart of Yates Township. Visitors can enjoy picnic tables, a sandy beach, swimming, and access to the boat launch. Wake ends at 7:30 p.m. 

Idlewild Lake Public Access Beach & Dock

There is a public access site on the South side of the lake, just off Wilson Drive. The site has a hard surface boat launch, bathroom facilities, and parking.

Idlewild Historic & Cultural Center

​A community plan since 1973, the Idlewild Historic & Cultural Center has been designed to function as a center for education and performance activities on a scale appropriate to Lake County.  

Camping Ordinance

The purpose and intent of this Ordinance is to ensure that the temporary occupancy of campers, recreational vehicles, camping trailers, tents and other temporary living quarters within the Township of Yates shall be used and conducted in a safe and clean manner that protects the public health and safety, ensures the safe and legal disposal of human waste and wastewater, restricts the use of non-standard electrical power sources and portable heating devices, protects surface and subsurface water quality, minimizes fire exposures and overcrowding, preserves property values and prohibits the creation and use of substandard permanent housing stock.
